Since 2015, Capriccio Osteria has been a Norton Street favourite, a best Italian restaurant in Leichhardt led by Positano-born restaurateur Michele Rispoli and Head Chef Nicole Bampton. From our dining room and Italian-inspired courtyard, to private functions room in Leichhardt and bespoke catering, we welcome guests from across Sydney’s Inner West and beyond. Where It Began

Capriccio Osteria began in 2015, when Positano-born restaurateur Michele Rispoli brought a piece of the Amalfi Coast to Norton Street. Today, alongside Head Chef Nicole Bampton, we welcome guests from across Sydney to share in that same Italian warmth.

For ten years, guests have travelled from across Sydney to share a meal at Capriccio. Here is what some of them have said about the experience.

We had an outstanding meal at Capriccio Osteria in Leichhardt. The House-Made Rosemary and Sea Salt Focaccia was warm and fragrant, a simple start done very well. The Saffron Fettuccine with slow-cooked lamb ragu, green olive and pistachio was rich and beautifully balanced. The Roasted Chicken with ajo bianco, roasted pumpkin, salmoriglio and almonds was tender and full of flavour.

I went to this Italian restaurant with some friends and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everything we ordered was spot on. The carpaccio as an entrée was easily the highlight, fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. The octopus was also incredible, tender, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. We also shared a couple of pizzas, and they were excellent, thin, crispy base with just the right amount of toppings.

Lovely food. Really liked the bread and Italian sausage pizza. The sausage is very chonky. Refreshing herbal dressing on the tomato salad really elevated the taste. Ink pasta is ok. Tasted better crab sauce nearby. Interior is way too dark. I need to see the colors of my food!

Had the pizza here 3 times the past month. Been fantastic each time considering it was takeout. Nice and fluffy wood fired pizza – perfect for the kids. Vodka pizza with the pepperoni is a little on the spicy side, but overall quite delish. Probably on the pricey side for takeaway, but worth it. Will have to go back and try the pasta.

Awesome food, especially the Pesto pizza – the potato went so well with the pistachio and pesto! Fantastic pasta as well, my favourite is the squid pasta. Desserts are super filling and delicious too. Definitely coming back!🥰

Came here for dinner with some friends on Friday night. The restaurant was packed, so recommend to make a booking to avoid disappointment. Service was quick, but most importantly everything was tasty. The highlight of our feast were the Octopus with Nduja Butter, the Beef Carpaccio, Carbonara Pizza and Saffron Fettuccine. We will come back again for sure.

Capriccio Osteria delivered an amazing dining experience. The squid ink pasta was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked, while the Amalfi pizza was outstanding with its light, crisp base and fresh toppings. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere that feels both lively and cozy, making it a great place for a night out. To top it off, the staff were warm and friendly, adding to the overall welcoming vibe.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Italian with excellent service

Delicious food and drinks, amazing pizza. Lovely live music. Had a few hiccups with our order and our hostess dealt with it so well, and discounted our meal without asking. That is what 5 star service is.
